How to find FREE music on the Internet

These tutorials are written by those who have been around long enough to know what they are talking about but who still remain decent enough to share what they know. For those who think they know everything, good for you. For those who are new to the 'sport' and need assistance to ensure they become proficient at finding good links and therefor posting more material for others, then this is for you. This site is all about sharing, not one-upmanship. This was written to help you, that's all. - Spam Patrol.

Open up good old google.com - http://www.google.com, then copy and paste this:
(Control + C to copy & Control + V to paste)

"parent directory" mp3 OR wma OR ogg "pink floyd" -htm -html

Anything between the "." is taken as a whole word, so google won't go looking for all the parent/kids sites. "Parent Directory" is at the top of all the index pages and is probably the most important word in the search string. The -htm -html at the end just says only give me pages without and index.htm or index.html

When you go to a web page, if it doesn't have an index.htm or index.html it will load as a directory or "dex"

The OR is another powerful little thing. The mp3 OR wma business is just saying give me any page with "either" of these two file names in it. You can also use "pinkfloyd OR "pink floyd" to join multi work band names together ... it will then search for both at the same time
in the search results the first few should be OK There will be some crap in the middle and a few small rare ones towards the end.

Anything .RU is bullshit! You will soon get the hang of knowing the bullshit ones that pop-up in most of the searches.

To test if they work, right click on a file name and "save target as" if it lets you save it, its a good-un! If it doesn't or hangs for ages, it's a dud. This is a fairly easy format to remember, there's some funkier add-ons that I will get to later, so play with the artist and see what you can get.
